With the start of London Fashion week, it’s time to start looking ahead to what kind of looks we should be lusting after this spring. We sent our resident fashion guru, Erin Hushon off to find out all about 2014’s hottest Spring trends…
With Spring finally arriving, even though it still feels like Winter, the new trends are emerging for this season. With that in mind, here is my list of the 5 top trends that you need to watch out for over the next few months.
With the Winter Olympics, Wimbledon and the upcoming World Cup, it’s a pretty safe bet that sport is going to play a big role on our lives over the next couple of months.
But as well as being all over all media, sport is also going to be serious Spring trend. Items such as basketball tops and bomber jackets will be featured in stores all around the country, influenced not only by the events, but also designer collections – such as Jacquemus and Alexander Wang’s Spring Collections.
Forget the dull colours of maroon and black through the winter, Spring pastels will play an essential part in brightening up your outfits. Pastel blues and pinks are the most popular colours currently being featured – possibly influenced by Burberry’s runway collection, but you can experiment with greens and purples…probably not together though!
Florals are always a trend in the Spring – usually due to the season being related to the bloom of flowers. As you may have guessed, this year is no exception.
Metallics bring glamour to an outfit. Metallic trends can either be pulled off very well or sometimes look a bit odd, so if you are not very fashion confident maybe stick to the subtle metallics.
Pleats may remind you of your old school skirt, however, this season they are back on trend. From mini to maxi, as well as other styles, all skirts are catering to the pleat. The pleats not only add youth to your outfit, but they also allow for a flowing movement in the garment. So why not try a new trend out, you never know whether it may suit you and become a staple piece in your personal style this Spring.
